Dear Families,
Welcome Back Celtics! I hope you all had a restful break. The weather was not great, but without the rain, we would not be able to enjoy the wonderful flowers.
It is lovely to see the children’s faces once again and pray that this will be the start of less restrictions for us. We are once again allowed to invite parent volunteers in the school. Teachers will reach out if anything is needed in their classrooms.
Due to the safety of our students and staff, we do ask that parents still buzz at the front doors to be let in the school so we know who is in the buildings. Please do not use the side doors without permission from the office.
Due to Track and Field practices we ask that parents and students stay off the field and blacktop area after pick up. Once Track and Field season is over, we will be able to open our playground after school for school families to enjoy once again. We will let you know when this will happen.
As we head into the third term, full steam ahead, I just want to thank you for all your support and understanding with all the changing protocols. I also want to thank the staff for their hard work and diligence. It is in working together that our community is able to get through all the challenges that we are faced with. I am grateful to be part of the Celtic community!

Staffing Update
We wanted to inform the community that Mrs. Wagg will be taking over Grade Two for the remainder of the school year. Ms. McBride is on a leave of absence.
Mrs. Picirilli will be teaching Grade Three on Fridays.
Penitential Service
Wednesday, April 6th at 7pm in the ChurchWe highly encourage every person in our community to return to our Heavenly Father in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Easter. For this Penitential service, the parish will be hosting different priests from the diocese so you can encounter the love of Christ in this way.
St. Pat’s Spelling Bee
Congratulations to all those who participated in the written component of our spelling bee!
All 20 students will move on to our school Spelling Bee (oral), which has been extended to April 11th to allow our students to practice a bit more. The winner on April 11th will move to the C.I.S.V.A. Spelling Bee to be held on April 28th at Holy Cross Elementary (in person).
Parents of those students who are participating on April 11th are invited to attend. Please come directly to the gym at noon.
Report Card Covers
Please sign and return the report card covers to your child’s teacher.
Track & Field
Track and Field practices will commence next week for students in Grades 3 – 7. Students must have a permission slip signed in order to participate in the practices. Forms were handed out this week. If you child missed taking one home, they will be available on Monday.
Uniforms
Just a reminder that students must come in proper uniform, especially on non-gym days, this includes black shoes indoors and green sweaters. Black crewneck sweatshirts are not permitted with the regular uniform.
We still have quite a ways to go in the school year, please check over your child’s uniform to ensure they still fit and do not have holes, rips or stains.

Second Harvest Program
We are members of a program called Second Harvest, and we receive daily notifications of donated foods, such as pastries, prepared sandwiches, and produce that are available to licensed non-profits. Mrs. Juhasz, who oversees the school hot lunch program, is seeking individuals who live, work, or visit different areas around the lower mainland, such as Burnaby, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Abbotsford and who would be willing to receive emails from her throughout the day with potential food rescues to bring back to the parish kitchen at Holy Grounds for the purpose of then sharing the donated food items with our community at no cost. These donated items will not be distributed to the the students.
The donated items require an organization to claim them in an online portal, so she would need you to reply fairly quickly if you’re able to pick up a food rescue so that she can claim it for our organization before another. She would then provide you with clear instructions for the pick-up, as when you actually need to pick-up the foods is flexible. The individual collecting the food would, of course, be welcome to enjoy and share some of the donated goods for their own family.

Save The Date – May 5th
Please save the date for May 5th for our last parenting evening. Our speaker for the evening is Sister John Mary. We will cover the topic of Sexuality & Your Child.
This is a mandatory talk for parents with students in Grade 4 – 7.
This covers the curriculum in those grades that parents can use to talk with their child as they see fit. All families are welcome.
