Dear Families,

I don’t know about you, but I have had my fill of snow days! We received several messages regarding school closure. In the event of a school closure, your best source of information is the REMIND APP. We also have our Facebook group, where the information was posted. Just last week, we also started our own Instagram account. Please do not phone the school, as no one will be here to answer your call. It is also challenging for us to send out a mass email in the event of an emergency closure, as the email program is on the main school computer. We hope not to have to use this again this school year!

We would like to continue to extend the invitation to attend Encounter for Adoration and Benediction in the Parish. The next one is on Feb. 2 at 7 pm.

Re-registration Packages

Your re-registration packages have been sent home. Please take a look at them carefully. The forms are due next Friday, February 2, during student-led conferences.

If your child is not returning next year, please email the office and let us know so we are aware.

There was a big turnout for our Open House! Thank you to the staff who helped out with all the preparation! We are expecting numerous new family applications. New applications are due on Feb. 8 so you want to get your re-registration forms in to secure your child’s spot.

NET Ministry

On Monday, we welcome NET Ministry to our parish for our Grade 7 Confirmation Retreat.

Thank you to the families who are hosting the missionaries and to the families who are helping with the meals.

Spelling Bee Update

Congratulations to all our participants who wrote the written spelling bee test. Fourteen students will move on to the oral spelling bee on April 2.

Celtics Day- Jan. 31

It is non-uniform day! The theme is RETRO DAY (any era!)

Please send $1.00 donation for The Door is Open, a Catholic organization in the Eastside of Vancouver who helps those who are less fortunate and those on the street.

Used Uniform Sale- Jan. 31

We are having a Used Uniform sale on Jan. 31 from 1:15-2:15 pm under the covered walkway. Please bring cash or cheques.

Upcoming Celebrations

As you may already know, Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day both fall on the same day. To keep the solemnity of Ash Wednesday, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 13. Please send any treats or cards your child wishes to share with their class on TUESDAY, FEB. 13.

The week of Feb 12-16 is Catholic Schools Week! Stay tuned for our Spirit Week activities!

100 Days of school is also coming up. An email will be sent home to primary classes for their special celebration.

Daughters of St. Paul and a Pauline School Book Fair- Feb. 9

Pauline School Book Fairs presents you and your family with a wonderful selection of Catholic resources from Pauline Books & Media, the publishing house of the Daughters of St. Paul. The Book Fair selections include:

· Board books · Catholic Fiction · Coloring & Activity books · Bible stories · Saint biographies · Comic books (also known as graphic novels) · Prayer books · Parent and teacher resources

St. Patrick School will host the Daughters of St. Paul and a Pauline School Book Fair on February 9th. Your child will bring home a book list, which we encourage you to review. You can even go online at www.paulinestore.ca to help you choose your selections!

This will be a ONE DAY Book Fair. All purchases must be made that day. Accepted forms of payment will be: Cash, Visa, Mastercard and Interact/Debit.

No one is obliged to make a purchase. A percentage of all proceeds will benefit the school.

Catholic School Week- Feb. 11-16

We love to celebrate Catholic Schools Week! Our kick off for festivities will be on SUNDAY, FEB. 11th. We would like to show our school colours at Sunday’s masses and to celebrate our community at pancake breakfast.

Our school choir will be singing at 11:15 mass. Students are asked to come in their school uniform and as a thank you, staff will be on hand to give out free popcorn passes to any student in their full uniform. They can be used for the following popcorn day.

Holy Grounds News

Come one, come all! Holy Grounds will have new hours starting February 1st with Tuesdays, FULL SERVICE from 8-4pm.

Come before school, come after drop off or even come before pick up. Your first latte is on US! Snap a photo and tag our Instagram for a chance to be featured.

Our drink for this week: Caramel Macchiato!! See you there!
