Celtics Chatter – Friday, September 8, 2023

Dear Families,

What a very busy week this was! Thank you for entrusting these beautiful children to our care. It is a blessing that we get to educate them, not just in academics but most importantly in the Word of God. Today we had our first school mass and it was so wonderful to see the students attentive and participating. Our liturgy choir sounded great! When you come to mass on Sundays, you can engage your child on where they sit at school masses, sing along with the hymns and help them learn the prayers of the mass so they can participate actively.

Just a reminder that the Parish Festival is on Saturday! It is also our Meet the Staff event. Please come and meet the staff working with your child this year and you can come and see their classroom!

Below, you will see a video found in the archives “from the 1990’s”! Please excuse the quality of the video as HD was not yet invented 😉 Happy back to school!

Have a blessed weekend!

Meet the Staff at the Parish Festival Saturday Sept. 9th

This year, we have combined “Meet the Staff Night” with the “Parish Festival”. This event will give you an opportunity to celebrate as a community, as well as meet the school staff. There will be an Open House in the school from 6:30-7:30 pm. Staff Members will be in their classrooms to meet you and answer any questions you may have. There will be a B.B.Q., games, prizes and lots of fun for the whole family! The Parish Festival starts at 6:00 p.m., and the school will open at 6:30 p.m.

Hope to see you all there!

Safety & Security

Please note that the gate off of Edge St. (behind the church) is locked during the morning and is opened at 2:30 pm (1:30 on Wednesdays).

The gates off 121 Avenue are open during drop off and pick up but will be closed from 9:30-2:30 pm daily (1:30 pm on Wednesdays).

Why are we locking closing gates?

With all the construction across the street, we find that there are many people around our perimeter who we do not know. To keep our school grounds secure, it is important that we know who is on school grounds. Anyone entering school grounds during school hours, needs to be buzzed in at the front door.

Parent Participation Information – Coming Soon!

Thank you for your patience. We have just completed training and will be prepared to send you your login information next week.

A BIG THANK YOU to our Parent Participation Coordinator, Mr. Scott Williams and to our office administrators, Mrs. Rieu and Mrs. Williamson, for all the prep work.

Just a reminder that each family needs to complete 50 parent participation hours. There will be many opportunities to complete these, such as helping out at events, cleaning and maintenance work, classroom tasks, supervision, coaching, chaperoning on field trips, and much more.

Through this portal, you will be able to see how many hours you need to complete and the monetary equivalent. It is $ 1250.00 for the year, which works out to $25.00 per hour.

If you have opted to pay the fees for the year, you will still receive a login, but you will not need to do anything with it as the system will recognize that your parent participation requirements are fulfilled. You will have to log in to use the portal to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences and Student Led Conferences.

Parents are welcome to come and join us. As there is no Mass on that Friday, students will wear their gym strip. We will be collecting loonies and toonies to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation.

Photo Day- Sept. 20

A notice went home regarding Photo Day on September 20th.

All students need to come to school in their full uniform that day. No gym strip allowed.
