Weekly Update for St. Patrick’s School Community

Walk with Jesus Our Living Hope

October 23rd, 2020

Dear Families,

This week’s Sunday Gospel reading is one of my favourite reminders:

Jesus said to him, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.Matthew 22:37-39

God has given us all the commandment to love one another, to show grace and to treat each other with respect. We are all taught that this is the Golden Rule, but how we act when someone is not reciprocating that is the challenge. I always tell my own children that you do not need to be friends with everyone, you don’t even have to like them but you must respect them and show them love. We must treat everyone like Jesus lives within them and preserve their dignity. The younger we share this message with our students and more frequently, the more they will use it in their daily lives.

The past month and half we have been focusing on the character trait of Respect. Next month, we will build upon it and focus on Fairness. This fits with the theological virtue of Charity, by which we love God above all things for His own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God.

May God bless you and your family always.

Yours In Christ,

Mrs. Maria Fonseca

If you are unable to bring your box in by the due date, you can bring it directly to Maple Ridge Baptist Church on Lougheed and 222nd.
